+ Austrian mezzo-soprano Angelika Kirchschlager (Sesto) talks about her delightful experience working with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
(*see below for English transcription of her interview);
+ British mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly (Giulio Cesare) discusses why she sings the role at the lower, Baroque pitch (excerpt from "Al lampo dell'armi" follows);
+ Conductor William Christie comments briefly on Handel's score for "Giulio Cesare".
-----
*Frau Kirchschlager (interview in German):
"It's wonderful to play with a baroque ensemble, especially with this one, because the people are so musical and so enthusiastic about the music they're playing.
"Every single instrument has a meaning, and there isn't a single musician who doesn't like what he is doing.
"You can feel that. It is amazing how they create that sound. It's so full of lightness, movement and flexibility.
"It's also very pleasant that it is a bit lower [in pitch]."
