Angela Aki - Sakurairo Live+Short documentary Haru uta 2007
Angela Aki's Sakurairo. This is taken from the Haru Uta (Spring's songs) Special of 2007.
I love this version because it's the full version live and has a little documentary that shows what was the inspiration for the writing of this marvelous song.
Well they talk at the beginning about Angie. How her mother is american and her father is japanese. That she realized that she wanted to become a singer while she was studying in Washington and then they tell the story of Cherry Trees in Potomac Park.
For those that don't understand japanese, they say that the first one who wanted to plant the cherry blossoms in Washington at West Potomac park was Eliza Ruhamah Scidmore. These trees where brought 90 years ago. She had to fight a lot to have her dream come true.
These are the trees that inspired Angela for this song. For more information go at wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W...
And now Eliza Scidmore is resting under a Sakura tree seeing it bloom every year, and for the special, Angie is going to perform her song here with her, enjoying their love for Sakura trees.
Beautiful performance and incredible location.
Enjoy!
