JASRAC copyright issues

TO: YouTube and JASRAC JASRAC is a huge, powerful interest group controlling 10 million dollar copyright income business. Its high pressure, predatory, mafia-like tactics of fee collection are despised and denounced. It sends thugs even to small coffee shops that play music in threatening manner for collection. The organization employs high ex-goverment officals to obtain favoritism. Its operation is not transparent. No one knows how much is paid to copyright owners and how much is kept in their own pocket. YouTube should resist this kind of pressure tactics of JASRAC. YouTube should demand documented proof of contract with each of copyrighters whom JASRAC claims to represent. Such proof should be submitted for each video they demand deletion. Recently 300 videos were deleted in one stroke. Such a blanket deletion is unwarranted. Many of those videos were over 50 years old and copyrights have expired. Google/YouTube should form a partnership with JASRAC to allow non-commercial music videos on YouTube. It will benefit both sides. It should contribute to world-wide promotion of Japanese music. On behalf of si153153 whose 300 odd Japanese music videos were summarily deleted and myself as a YouTube user and a victim whose favorite videos were all deleted, I make the following demand on both YouTube and JASRAC. 1. JASRAC submit a documented proof of the contract with each copyrighter whom JASRAC claims to represent for each video. Without such proof, the copyright claims by JASRAC should be denied. 2. A blanket deletion of 300 videos without due process is unwarranted. Copyrights have expired on many of these videos which are 50 years old or more. 3. Unless JASRAC meets these requirments, all deleted videos should be promptly restored. 4. We both seek compensation for pain and suffering as the result of your action.
